first and foremost, my sincerest apologies for being out of the scene for so long. it's been a depressing and trying past few weeks for me. not that it has ceased being that, but i can't abandon this blog for any longer. it took me a lot of effort to build it and gather all you beloved readers, i won't give this up that easily. thank you for bearing with my inactivity, and i hope to be able to pick up where i left and blog as frequently as i used to.

anyway....i wanted to share some amusing news with you! i was out shopping with a girlfriend today, and guess what i stumbled upon! see if it looks familiar to you! heh!

what a steal, right, but at the same time what an infringement of design! lol!

i have so many kate spade lookalikes in stores, especially shoes and accessories.
charles & keith for one, really has lots of shoe styles that look too similar to that of kate spade. well, i supposed kate spade should be flattered!

browsing through photos of kate spade's london party inspired me so much, and i so decided:
today i will wear a flower in my hair.

and that is exactly what i did!

today we were going to a colleague's place - she was having a lunch gathering - and i styled my hair with a pink flower...i don't know what species it is! i tucked the ends of my hair with tons of bobby pins to make sure it all stays in place. this is the number of bobby pins in my hair just to make the hairdo work!

i passed by the cart at around 3pm, so i missed the 1pm session, and no, i wasn't gonna stay for the 6pm one! were any of you there? =)

this post was meant for when kate spade celebrated black and white last month, but my asos packages didn't arrive in time, so i'm only wearing the outfits now, but i'm sure it's still not too late! i had ordered a white sleeveless shirt with a black pussybow that i felt was too adorable. i matched it with a pair of black high-waisted culottes. so here's the whole ensemble!

i decided to add a touch of red with my new red wedges from aldo, and my Cornelia Street Noel Blair complimented the final look perfectly with its mix of red, black and white!

but wait! that's not the best of it! some time ago, i ordered a pair of tights from asos but have never gotten round to wearing it. i adore it, love it, cherish it, because it is just too cute! it's skin-toned, and at the back, after a long line running from your bum to your ankles, is the word "love" - sealed with a cute bow! it's ridiculously cute! many of my colleagues actually thought i've just gotten a new tattoo on both my legs! haha!

well...finally, i am able to put the tights to use with this outfit! i'm thinking of getting another pair, but it is unfortunately out of stock at present. bummer!

my aldo shoes, black culottes and kaftan i ordered from asos have all arrived! i think the blue peep-toes i purchased have also arrived, but it's at the post office because no one was home when the mailman brought it. i'll collect it tomorrow!

the red wedges i bought from aldo are truly gorgeous! they fit so perfectly well, and feel so kind on the feet! i can't wait to wear them!

the yellow kitten heels feel a little loose, though, although its a size 35 as well, but nothing some insoles can't help with! i've just gone to aldo again i bought another pair of wedges, this time in white. isn't it pretty!

let's hope this one goes smoothly, unlike the nude peep-toes i wanted! *fingerscrossed*

yesterday i was such a happy camper, i swear you could have heard me squeal in delight all the way from singapore to where you are (the lot of you not in singapore, that is!). i finally found the rainbow umbrella i've been dying to get my hands on, ever since a colleague brought it to work on one of them rainy days in april. i ain't exaggerating because i remember i was wearing green!

and FINALLY, i found it yesterday while out shopping with the husband, the mini man and a friend, and it was at an unbelievable steal, too! only SGD$15.90! can you believe it? it's got 24 color panels, and this sure brings the phrase "live colorfully" to a whole new level!

this was the purchase i have been waiting for so long to arrive, and it finally did a few days ago. so without further ado, i present to you....my latest kate spade baby!

THIS is the size i had actually wanted my purple lake bow monde seraphine to be in! but instead i got the large one by mistake. so i made up for it by getting this bag. this splodge dot small seraphine in purple lake and cream is of the perfect size for an elbow-hold carry!

i've been stocking up on lots of purple so that when kate spade celebrates the color, i'll be all prepared! heh! i've been scouring asos for purple dresses and tops, and i've even purchased these purple platino faux snakeskin flats on amazon! they arrived yesterday!

and speaking of shoes, i got these cream jelly wedges from bata recently! i was stranded due to the rain last friday, and walked into bata to while the time away and stumbled on these cuties! they were available in black and cream, so i opted for the latter.

it was a great deal at only SGD$39.95!

a pity i didn't have anyone to help me snap a photo last friday! i tried my darnest to get my whole outfit in but it wasn't easy! this was the best shot i could manage.

i had one of my favorite navy tops on - i love it because of the frilly details on the chest. and i had my white martha pink cropped pants on. you can't really see it in the photo i guess. well, to compliment the mix of navy and white, i had on my navy blue and white polka dot flats. and as usual, i have my brooklyn heights lori with me!

ooh! i bought one more item from asos yesterday! it's a black midi skirt by warehouse that was going for only USD20.69 on sale! how can i resist that?!?

i'm eyeing a few more tops which i'm gonna sieve through later today and decide which of the lot i'm gonna get. an update will follow!

here's a polka dotted and frilly dress i seldom have on. i think i bought it at one of the campus bazaars at the Singapore Management University for about $30. i paired it with bright pink this time. the pink skinny belt is from mphosis and that's my 34th street treesh!

i also had a pink flower in my hair, and my navy tights on. i wanted to put on my pink sequined ballerina flats actually, but at the last minute opted for my blacks instead. the husband took this photo while we were waiting for the lights to change to head over to the food center for lunch!

my asos buys are slowly arriving. i think the next time i order, i'm gonna opt for the express shipping because i cannot stand the wait! and most times the items arrive looooooooooong after the color kate spade is celebrating is over!

anyway, these are the items i've ordered to date. so far only the white shirt with the black bow (this was meant for last month's black and white!) and the purple dress have arrived. the rest i think are slowly crawling to me!

i used to shop just for dresses on asos, but now i'm exploring the pants and tops section too! there are really too many irresistibly pretty clothes!! as we speak, i have a tab on asos open and i'm still browsing for more goodies to buy! but i'm gonna peel myself away soon, because i need to take pictures of the recent kate spade buy and show it to all of you!

and oh, talking about kate spade, i'm so dismayed the five points camille is no longer online. i was going to get the aqua one, but now it's no more! *wails*

also, i actually have three "true blue" outfit posts to put up, but my darling son has deleted one photo of the three! so i'll post the remaining two soon as well!

i paired today's outfit with some baby pink. my culottes are from bysi while my frilly navy blue is from robinsons. i'm putting my brooklyn heights lori to a lot of use lately! and that's my blue and white polka dot flats from cotton on kids! finally, i added a pastel pink floral clip to my hair.

i've got good news, too! my kate spade purchase has arrived and i will blog about it soon!

on second thoughts, i should have worn my red mary janes with this outfit, and not my black flats. don'cha, think? i'll remember it next time!

on the work front, there's some great news! we're celebrating the color BLUE next week! we celebrate two colors each term, with the first of this term being purple, and blue will be next! that's awesome news for a kate spade addict living live colorfully! heh!

the kate spade purchase i made early this month still hasn't arrived and i'm beginning to panic. but hmmm...i'll give it till the end of the week before i press the alarm button! and i have two more impending purchases i hope to make by this weekend, too! i'm dizzy with excitement, and once i've confirmed them, i'll be sure to spill all here!

we brought the little man to the beach today cos it's been a while since! the husband is part of the "Dads for Life" movement and they had a little get-together today by the beach. so we went for just a little while in the evening, after which we headed to the city.

it was a simple outfit that allowed me to have my galaxy swirl necklace on for the first time in months! i don't have many blue accessories, save for this one! and i brought out my gold coast elizabeth to match my gold aldo sandals.

tomorrow we are watching the sneak preview of Cars 2! we're one of the lucky 80 given tickets to the preview while the rest of singapore has to wait till August 25! it's gonna be a cold day at the theaters so i think i'm gonna need my tights! should i go with the teal again? heh! they're really growing on me!

i received the most dreaded news from aldo today. the nude pumps i had ordered is out of stock! and this came, like, FIVE days after i placed my order! it's so upsetting! but well, at least the other two pairs are on their way. i cannot imagine how mental i'll get if all three were out of stock! and at least i received my happy packages from asos today, so it cheered me up a tad. i'm also still waiting for the something-kate-spade i purchased early this month to arrive! i can't wait to show it to all of you!

anyway, i was in a mad rush to get to work this morning, and as it usually happens on my mad mornings, i abandoned all outfit plans and grabbed the first thing i could get my hands on. no time to accessorise! a simple top, my denims, and my gold coast margot from yesterday!

i had actually wanted to match the top with a black skirt and then slip on my black tights, but no time for all that anymore! i had to rush, rush, rush! i love the frills on this top! also the two blooms at the collar! it's actually a darker shade of blue, bluish purple actually, but it looks royal blue in photos!

alrighty....i'm going to compile all my asos buys in photos later, and share with you what i have purchased - received and pending!

i love how blue my legs were! i felt like a smurf! LOL! if only i had worn white! i think this has to be the boldest colored tights i have ever dared to attempt, apart from red. others have all been of rather "safe" and dark hues. but it felt awesome! i'm going to wear these teal tights more often now!

i just feel this outfit would have been so perfect if i had the aqua camille, or even the aqua bixby. such a shame, right! instead i brought my gold coast margot with me. well, by hook or by crook i'm going to make sure the camille becomes a reality soon, and when i do, i can always put this outfit together again!

and talking about aqua, i've just purchased another pair of pumps! it's too pretty to pass on, and it's in the perfect shade of blue! PLUS it serves as more encouragement for me to get that camille!

aaaaaaaand speaking of shoes....the yellow kitten heels i ordered from aldo has finally shipped! so now i'm just waiting for the nudes! that's FOUR pairs this ~~month~~ week! the husband is gonna flip, lol!

today i felt pretty darn dressed up! why? because i was wearing heels! after like, fifteen years. lol! it felt nice walking around in them at first, but as expected, my calves were aching after walking fifteen minutes. how do women do it? no. scratch that. WHY do women do it? it's so torturous! i dare not wear my notorious heels (the ones i'm pretty sure will cause me to want to walk barefoot after walking fifty meters in them) with the husband around, because we had a little episode some time back, and he has now banned me from even thinking about wearing them!

i wore my nine west eastbound heels one time, and by evening i was having trouble walking and couldn't stop whining about how painful my feet were. i eventually took them off and walked barefooted like 250meters home, which he felt was a total embarrassment for him, walking next to a barefooted (albeit well-dressed) lady. needless to say, he nagged my ears off all of the 250meters home. *grumble* so i'm never gonna give him an opportunity to nag me anymore, and i'll save the aching and whining for when i'm alone!

but hey, all for the sake of looking (painfully) good and for this beloved blog of mine, and also for the viewing pleasure of YOU, my most treasured readers, i will endure it! heh!

you've seen this dress before - it's the navy blue pussybow dress from asos that i wore one time when kate spade was celebrating orange, if i recall correctly. this is only my second time wearing it. it's not kind on the tummy, so thankfully this picture was taken before i had my meal! lol!

that's my brooklyn heights lori that i brought out today, and also my urs inc. pumps. i love these pumps very much, but i really need to get used to wearing heels again! heels used to be the only footwear i'd step out of the house in, and i could even run after the bus in them! but since switching to flats during pregnancy, it's just impossible to feel comfortable in heels anymore. or maybe i'm just getting old!

i'm thinking of trying out teal tomorrow, but i just don't have a bag that'll match! oh, if only i had the aqua camille now! well, i'll see what'll work later, and hopefully it'll be a good-to-go!

i had a long debate on FB on the difference between aqua and turquoise yesterday. i have never been good at differentiating between them! to me they look the same! but whatever the difference is, my main concern is this: do they fall under blues or greens? reason being, i'd like to know i'm sporting the right hue for my "true blue" posts!

so aqua is blueish green, while turquoise is greenish blue. but what main color category would they fall under? blue? or green?? they both have blue and green in them! it's all too confusing!

sigh.

anyway, as i usually declare, mondays are lazy days for me. it's a quiet day at work because not many classes are conducted on mondays (we're usually busy on the weekends, but the bulk of my classes are on tuesdays through to fridays), thus not many of my colleagues work on a monday. so...yes, it's a quiet day, and usually is a go-home-straight-after-i-finish-at-1.30pm kinda day for me. therefore, i don't usually bother dressing up, because...what's the point, right?

so yesterday i was in my denims, with a simple aqua (as i was told) top. i have the same top in yellow! i just love the soft flowy material! i dressed it up with, what i am also told, my turquoise beaded necklace.

for my bag, i chose my cornelia street noel elizabeth and my black cotton on kids flats. all in all, it was not a very exciting outfit, but one still fit for my "true blue" posts, i hope!

let's hope the rest of the week will bring about more exciting blue gettups!

it's been a while since i bought shoes online off aldo! i have received emails after emails from them luring and enticing me with their sales, but i have been a good girl and completely deleted them! until last friday. heh. and yes, you can smack me hard cos i left the site with THREE shoes and USD93.72 poorer!

but hey! considering it was for three shoes, i think it was money well spent! actually, there were a lot of other pumps that took superhero powers to resist, so i think i did pretty okay walking away with just three pairs.

here are the shoes i bought!

i loved the red wedges the instant i saw them and knew i had to get them! considering how i love red and though i have tons of red heels, i am wearing my monsoon mary janes too often and sooner than later they're gonna give up on me. so i'm hoping these red wedges will make a great addition to my options.

the yellow kitten heels i imagine will look perfect with my yellow quinn, and i love that they're kitten heels. not the usual towering four or five inchers i usually buy but always end up chucking aside cos they're either too painful or too impossible to stagger in with my son around!

and the nudes! can a girl ever have too many nudes?!? no siree! and the cork heels are just irresistible!

but aldo has sometimes been a pain in the behind for me, because there are times when i place an order, have it confirmed, only to have them email me a day or two later to inform me it's out of stock. it's annoying! how could you grant a girl shoes and then deny it later?! it's unforgivable! as it is, only the red wedges have been shipped so far. the nudes and the kittens are still pending. my fingers are crossed they go through successfully!

besides kate spade, aldo and asos are my two other causes of financial destruction! don't get me started on asos now. too many nice clothes i can't say "no" too! and to think my black and white purchases haven't even arrived yet! we're already moving on to blue! my blue buys better arrive SOON!

yesterday i abandoned all plans to laze around at home and instead met one of my girlfriends to run some errands, followed by "operation tights" (lol, we went shopping for tights!) and a thai dinner. i put on one of my favorite blue dresses from asos - it's my favorite because of the polka dots! it's a little low on the chest, so i usually wear a white camisole on the inside.

the ballerina flats are a godsend from Cotton On Kids! yes, you heard me right! Cotton On KIDS!! it's a blessing being tiny! i can get shoes and clothes from the kids department! and i pay peanuts for them! these flats were two for twenty! so i got these and the black ballerina flats you see me wearing a lot of when kate spade celebrated black and white.

i also had on the navy blue tights i recently purchased. it was blue and polka dot overdose! lol! so i decided to add a different hue to the whole get-up and opted for my tangerine Camille, versus any of my blue bags.

it's another blue outfit for me today, and i'll post pics of it later! stay tuned!

farewell black and white, hello breathtaking blue!
kate spade is now celebrating blue this month, and you have no idea how excited i am! though, while i do have tons of blue outfits (specifically navy blue!), i don't have that many blue kate spade bags - apart from my brooklyn heights lori and chatham roslyn wicker bag - but i'm sure i'll get by okay!

i'm in love with the five points camille in aqua, and may just get it soon! the color is just too irresistible!

i love kate spade's book clutches, but i have to be realistic and admit it's not practical for me. but if you are a fan or even a collector of the book clutches, you'll be thrilled to know kate spade has just released a new addition to the collection (or maybe not, considering the damage it'll do to your wallet, lol!) that is presently available for pre-order - the "Tale of Two Cities"!

i haven't gotten into the swing of all things blue yet, considering its the weekend and we've made no plans but to just stay in, so there won't be any dressing up opportunities! perhaps next week when the new work week starts! but i have however, gotten myself ready! yesterday i purchased two blue tights - navy blue and teal - and they're all ready to jazz up my outfits this month!

i must thank kate spade for inspiring me so, and teaching me how tights add such an exciting dash of color and zing to an otherwise normal outfit. i was never this experimental and bold! i'm still working on being daring enough to mix and match a crazy combo of colors (think black dress, teal leggings and perhaps yellow peep-toe heels!) the kate spade way, but slowly and surely, i'm getting there!

i broke away from the usual black and white yesterday and opted for brighter hues! well, truth is, i've run out of black AND white (am only left with blacks), heh! hopefully my asos package will arrive soon enough!

i realise i haven't posted any pictures of me in my green and also yellow Katie skirts! i did wear my yellow katie skirt one time, but i must have not taken a picture for the blog! i must do that soon! yesterday, however, i decided to go with the green Katie skirt, and pair it with lots of pink. bolder than my usual self, but i think it was a fun mix of colors! this was my first time in the green Katie skirt, by the way!

i added my pink skinny belt from mphosis and a turquoise green floral brooch from xcessories. my bright pink 34th street treesh was a fitting finish! my only regret was i didn't have my pink monsoon sequined ballerina flats with me, else the whole look would have been truly pink and green. oh well!

anyway, tomorrow i might just go with my yellow Katie skirt, and perhaps pair it with some orange! i'll be like a walking sunshine!

today was a very simple and casual day at work for me. monday is usually a lazy day for me to play dress-up, i'm usually in my most casual of outfits. i just paired a simple white cotton top with my black capris today and added a little dash of excitement (heh) with my black flower brooch. it's really being put to good use, this flower! haha!

and because today is a short and uneventful day for me, i could afford to tote a smaller bag, in my cornelia street noel elizabeth! but you know what this outfit is missing?? a long strand of black beads! i think it would have made the outfit a lot more well put together. i really need to stock up on more accessories!!

i think tomorrow i might take a break from all the black and white! we'll see how i feel in the morning!

i'm fast running out of black and white things to wear! more like, i'm running out of white things to wear. black i have TONS of! but i'm just running out of white items to pair with the black.

yesterday i had my white calvin klein apron dress, which i layered with my reversible black and white mphosis cardi. i topped it with the detachable flower from my mphosis belt that can double as a brooch and also a hair accessory.

i had wanted to bring out my gold coast margot, but i think the cornelia street owen played up the black and white better. now i've just got to think about what white elements to add to all the LBDs i have hanging in my closet for future black and white outfits!

yesterday i tried a little black and white with my white martha pink pants and black peter pan collared asos top. it was a simple outfit, but i must say i love the collar detail on the top. i love peter pan collars! i completed the look with my cornelia street noel owen, though i was also considering the cornelia street noel blair and complimenting the hint of red from the blair with my red mary janes. but i decided to keep it true to just black and white in the end!

i think i need to get a longer strand of pearls soon, because outfits like these are in desperate need of one!

i cannot describe how many compliments i received today when i wore Sandee's Katie skirt to work! everyone was gushing about how gorgeous i looked, one of my colleagues even said i look like i have just stepped out of Harpers Bazaar! hahaha! i was so embarrassed! truth be told, it's all thanks to Sandee's truly beautiful skirt. it's just so beautiful you could put anything on top and you'll still look amazing!

i cannot wait for Sandee's polka dot range (yes! she's making polka dot Katies!!) and i promise i will get them in all colors!

today i paired a white frilly spaghetti-strapped top with teenie tiny black polka-dots (that i had purchased at a flea market from my girl, D, herself!) and a high-waisted black skirt that i can't recall where i got from. together it looks like one of the two-in-one two-tone dresses you see on ASOS, heh! i topped it with my black bolero because bare shoulders are not too welcomed at work!

i love frills and polka dots!
i had my gold coast margot again because i think the prints of my cornelia street noel (either the owen or elizabeth) would look to jarring against the polka dots. what do you think?

anyway, i'm excited about tomorrow because i'm planning to have one of Sandee's katie skirt, the black and white stripey one, on! woot woot!

today we brought the little man for a day of fun at a local playgym that just opened - Amazonia at Great World City. he sure enjoyed and tired himself out! after that we headed down to the Esplanade Waterfront to just enjoy the breeze and the night sky...i think it was a great family day out!

i love this black and white striped skirt! the material is soft and heavenly, and flows beautifully when you walk or even sit. it's from ASOS! the top is a simple cotton top from, where else, Cotton On! i was undecided between the cornelia street noel elizabeth and the gold coast margot, but i went with the latter!

i added a belt from mphosis that i got an unbelievable steal! i think it was under SGD$10 at one of their recent sale!

i have never been a fan of black, and have much preferred navy blue instead. i think navy blue is the new black! but kate spade has introduced some really to-die-for black and white pieces, and i think now black is such a wonderful color when paired with white!

this week was a little tough for me to be dressed in black and white, because at work, we were celebrating the color purple in class, so i had to be decked in purple the whole week!

last week, we were invited to a birthday party of one of my son's classmates, and i took the opportunity to be decked in black and a hint of white! though, i was too lazy to switch bags, because it was a tiring day for me before we headed out, so i stuck with the Clyde. my cornelia street owen, or even my classic noel gabel would have been a better fit for the black and white combo, but oh well!

you must have heard by now, this month kate spade is celebrating not one but TWO colors: black and white! and i'm sure many of us are rejoicing, because they're such easy peasy colors!!!

last thursday i had a class learning journey, and it didn't take two seconds for me to decide what to wear. i just added a tint of red with my All Typed Up Clyde and shoes, just to play up the red "stop" iron on patch i had on my leggings that i had sewn on to hide a hole. haha!

and in case you can't quite make out why i look a little different, lol, "i just had my hair did"! heh! i had it chopped off and also straightened!

while searching for all-things-gold from kate spade, i miraculously stumbled on the shimmer skimmer dragonfly ring in gold...and in my teeny tiny size 5, no less!

i am so thrilled with this discovery and purchase and can't wait for it to arrive! i think rings are such a wonderful accessory but they are often forgotten. rings can add such an awesome oomph to an outfit, or even be a great conversation starter!

i'm gonna hunt for more kate spade rings. problem is, my ring size is so tiny, and it's always almost impossible to find one in my size.

but it's gonna be one exciting hunt!

have i been away for a while or what!
well, as some of you may already know, i was away for a family vacation to hong kong disneyland, as a special treat for my little one. the entire trip was dedicated solely to spending time at the theme park for him to get up close with his favorite characters, and for him to experience the magical kingdom of disneyland! as for me, this is the second disneyland i have been to, with the california one being the first. still, disneyland will never fail to awe you, no matter how many times you may have been to it!

great news is, though the entire trip was all about disneyland, i still managed to squeeze in some precious shopping time on our last day, just before we headed to the airport. and thanks to the husband, i treated myself to a couple of goodies at the kate spade outlet store at Citygate Outlet Mall! Tung Chung was as far as we could venture out to, because we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, and due to the time constraints, we couldn't travel any further. maybe next time!

and because it's an outlet store, most of the stuff there are old. they still had the 34th street treesh and the classic noel range, so you can imagine how old the stock is! i didn't fancy any of the bags on sale, nor the apparel. so i directed my attention to the small goods and accessories instead. the outlet store does have tons of shoes on sale, but the smallest size was six, and that won't fit a size-5 me.

okay, okay...i know many of you can hardly wait already to know what i bought from the store! well, here's what i scored!

yesterday i brought out my newspaper clutch for the very first time. i must say, it was quite fun! i love the incredulous looks i got each time i popped it open to reach for my phone or cash. love it! i was out with my girls, sans my three year old, thus the ability to utilise the clutch since i brought next to nothing with me! all i could fit were my keys, mobile phone, lip gloss, the essential cards and cash. that's all!

the orangie-peach top i wore is from dorothy perkins, matched with my Levis. i love the top because of the two cute little bows on the front!

it's the sheer pussybow shortsleeve blouse i got from asos in tangerine, which features a button-through back that is a challenge to do unless you have someone to help you with!!

the meaning of self-restraint is alien to me. i walked into kate spade raffles city on tuesday, telling myself i'm NOT going to get anything, and i even enlisted my little sister to STOP me if i attempt to get anything, but all that was useless in the end.

i walked out of the store gleefully clutching a hot pink paper bag, and $221 poorer. what did i get? i got myself a pair of readers and also a new silicone iPhone 4 cover.

i'm really fond of my new readers! i was tossing between this (the Millie), the Jodie (in pink tortoiseshell) and the Pippie, but this one looked best on me. and i quite like the polka dots and the ksny license plate on the side of the frames too. i'm gonna have to get my eyesight checked again, and the proper lenses fixed in soon.

my sister, on the other hand, bought a new bag and a necklace, too. the 30% sale is too irresistible! have YOU been to the sale yet? =)

i wore my black katie skirt last thursday! and i received so many compliments for it!

once again i forgot my pearls! argh!

it's super comfy, and unlike some skirts that tend to ride up while you walk or move around too much, the Katie skirt hangs obediently on the waist and stays in place nicely. also, i wore the skirt for a huge part of the day - i did not change into my work clothes - and was very pleased to see that it did not get wrinkled at all, considering all the movements throughout the day.

i paired it with my yellow mango top and my yellow quinn, instead of going for orange. i think yellow looks better! and speaking of yellow, my yellow katie skirt is in the works! i can't wait to receive it!

this dress is definitely going to be one of my favorites from now on! i love how it hangs and how the skirt flares out. many of my colleagues complimented the dress and commented i looked like a stepford wife! lol! and the shade of orange is just beautiful too.

i was undecided between my five points camille and the wellesley quinn, but decided on the latter. something about the yellow just gives the outfit an extra oomph! and i finished the look with my nude primark heels.

the back of the dress is worthy of so many ooohs and aaaahs! but of course, it's not too appropriate for work, so i had paired it with my green cardi. it actually looked good - the combination of green and orange! i never would have thought! but dang, i wished i had taken a picture of me with the green cardi on!

i wonder how many more days of celebrating orange are left...and most importantly, i wonder what the next color-of-the-month will be! i'm praying hard it will be blue, so i won't have to shop for outfits for a while at least! lol! i have tons of blue!

finally, my orange asos buys have arrived, and i can now get into the swing of kate spade's orange crush! i love this tangerine shift dress so much! it's very flattering and feels really comfortable to the skin.

i added a turquoise brooch to give the get-up a color twist...i've always thought orange goes perfectly with turquoise! my only bummer about this photo is that i had forgotten about my pearls, and only realised it much, much later. i had worn it to work, but i change into workwear everyday before class starts because class activities can get mighty messy with the little ones, so when i had changed back into my outfit at the end of the day, i had forgotten about the pearls. oh well!

for my US readers, TPL, or Tin Pei Ling, is a member of parliament here who is at the receiving end of a lot of hatred from Singaporeans, and she has received a lot of flak over a picture of her posing with a kate spade box. google it, and you'll know the story. hey, don't ask me why. ~~singaporeans~~ people can be impossible and pick over the slightest thing once they have formed an (unfavorable) impression of you. she could have been hugging an LV box and then LV would be ridiculed too.

well, just bad luck (and mine, too, obviously) she had her arms around a kate spade box. a lot of singaporeans have cried bloody murder and swore to never buy kate spade again since the photo. how bloody childish right? but hey, that leaves more for you and i, and other kate spade lovers.

anyway, back to the story. i was looking at my blog stats and wondering what on earth on hardware zone could possibly direct so many visitors here. and that is when i discovered the thread above. isn't it pathetic how lame some people can be? and ridiculous? it's not enough to hate that TPL character, but they have to drag me - an innocent kate spade lover - into the mess as well?

my mothers' day present!

sorry it took me so long to post this! mothers' day was over a week ago! but it's nearing the end of the school term here, and i've been really busy at work!

so aaaaaaaanyway, here are photos of my mothers' day present from the husband!

he got me the classic noel triangular duffel since we'll be going for a short holiday to hongkong in June. that's in about twenty days time! it's a really short trip for only about three days, because we're only checking out the Disneyland there and then heading back. we won't have time to shop (boo hoo!) because of the strict itinerary we have to follow, but i'm gonna try to squeeze some time to pop by the kate spade store there!

i didn't want an excessively big luggage bag, because we are just gonna be away for three days, and this duffel bag is just of the perfect size. not overly big, yet huge enough to store all my stuff and the little man's that we will need over our short holiday. i'm gonna send my classic noel sky gabel baby bag for cleaning, so i can use that for the trip too, and i'll have matching bags! *beams*

i'm sure, many of you, when scouring online for that elusive kate spade bag you are doing your darnest to get your hands on, may stumble upon a few that will make you do a double-take, or wonder out loud if kate spade really did make such a bag. it's interesting to see how kate spade has evolved from the late nineties to what it is today. you'd be surprised that one of the oldest kate spade bags may just be the real deal though it looks like a fake!

take a look at these ones!

i'm sure many of you would have been quick to dismiss these two as fakes, but you'd be shocked to know they are genuine kate spades from the pre-1999 collections. how different are kate spade handbags these days from then, huh?

a lot of work goes into collating all of kate spade collections from the late 20th century to the mid-21st, (believe me, i tried!) and for that, props will have to be given to kat for putting together a website (http://ihatecounterfeitbags.info) that contains unbelievably useful and interesting information for every kate spade fan.

my husband brought me to the kate spade store today to get me my belated Mothers' Day present, and you will not believe this - i couldn't find ANYTHING i liked! NOTHING! i even walked round the store FIVE times just to be sure! i'm actually quite bummed. the product range was disappointing. there were a lot of the black bags...and the old barrow street annabel range as well as the older seersucker patent ones. the rest of the (very limited) newer range i didn't fancy at all!

they didn't have the mott street fisher in tangerine, nor do they have the splodge dot seraphine. well, they did have the victoria falls madeline, but the price tag was a bit much here. not justifiable for a teeny Mothers' Day present! that one calls for an anniversary or birthday or something! lol!

so i walked out of there empty handed...and very, very bummed. BUT. i'm not one to not have a back-up plan, so i managed to get something else instead to make up for the failed shopping trip. IT WILL BE REVEALED SOON!

meanwhile, here's what i wore today!

as i'm still waiting for all my orange dresses and tops to arrive from asos, the only dash of orange i can afford till then is from my tangerine five points camille! the dress is from asos, and heels from URS Inc.

this is about the only orange dress i have to get me by the month that kate spade is celebrating the color orange! well, i do have two orange tops from topshop and zara, but they're older than my son, (haha!) so i'm not going to count them. but its okay! i reckon the orange dresses and tops i ordered from asos should arrive soon!

anyhoo, the dress i'm wearing above is from the label "embre" at robinsons, and the shoes, are very very VERY similar to the kate spade colin but i got mine from a local shoe store here (Charles&Keith) for less than SGD50!

i have no idea what to call the orange posts this month. it's so difficult to think of one! i settled for "shades of orange" because there's persimmon...tangerine...tangelo...pumpkin....and many more! so "shades of orange" it shall be!

yesterday we brought the little one to a playdate at one of our friends'...who live in the neighbourhood we'll be moving in to! yes, we'll be moving out of my in-laws' (finally!) and into a place of our own! the place is nearly finish, we're just waiting to collect our apartment keys, so yesterday on the way to the playdate we stopped by to look at our flat and apartment, which was just two HDB blocks away!

right now, my in-law's place is a house in Thomson, and though i love the neighbourhood, and we'll be moving to a smaller 4-room apartment, nothing beats being on your own and having your own place. i'm sure many will know what i mean! i'm so excited, can't you tell? lol!

because we didn't have the keys yet, we could only take pictures of the exterior, but just being there, touching the gate of our apartment and my mailbox, was thrilling enough!

BUT. this is a "going green" post, so here's the something green i had on yesterday!

as expected, my previous post ~~pissed a few people off~~ upset a few people. i'm sure you've read the comments. even the slightest thing, like putting inverted comas into a word or two - which was totally harmless and i had not meant to insinuate anything by it, but purely to quote the words the interviewer had used - was picked on. well, i've said it, and i still stand by it. but i must reiterate, it was not meant to offend anyone. it was my truthful opinion. surely, i am entitled to mine, just as others are to theirs.

i had actually drafted a reply in response to the comments left, but i stopped midway because i realised, more (unhappy) comments will surely follow in time to come, and if i were to rebut or explain myself to each and every one, i'd go crazy. so i ain't gonna bother, but just take comfort in the fact i've said what i honestly feel, and if i had offended anyone in the process, then...tough.

moving on!

on the green front, i haven't been a good girl, so i haven't many "going green" posts so far. i'm always in a mad rush in the morning, i usually end up abandoning all "going green" outfit plans i had laid out the night before, and grabbing my denims and the first top i see in the wardrobe - because they always require so much time to layer on, like the shirt, then the skirt, then the leggings, accessories, blah blah blah! and then by lunch time, i am in absolute regret and remorse at not following through with my outfit plans. tsk.

as it is, i have taken a taxi to work every day for the past six weeks. and i have been putting on my make-up in the taxi every morning! i'm gonna be a good girl and quit taking the taxi in the mornings from next week on. i have four more weeks to go, and i can't afford anymore taxi rides! that's $20 a taxi ride a day, and its been 35 days! *gasp*

i'm looking forward to the month-long term holidays beginning end May! and then in the second week of June, we're heading off to Hong Kong with the little one! no prizes for guessing, of course i'm gonna check out the kate spade stores while we're there!

and oh, the mom of one of the kids i teach is probably one of the sweetest one around. last friday, she passed me a $150 kate spade voucher (yes, she knows of my incurable addiction!) that i can use in my birth month on any full-priced handbags! if you're a kate spade VIP card holder, you'll get this voucher when your birth month nears.

i'm awfully touched, she's just the sweetest. though, i don't think i can wait till september, lol! i'm gonna find someone i know whose birth month is May and get their help, heh!

kate spade not shipping here...so what?

a reporter from one of the local newspapers here contacted me recently, requesting for my comments on the fact that kate spade no longer ships to singapore, and also no longer allow concierge services to place orders from them. to me, this issue is getting reeeeeeeeally old and tiring. i get annoyed when i hear people whining about it. at first i didn't want to do the interview, because i seriously couldn't be arsed to speak about the issue. but i changed my mind, because i eventually felt that i want my two cents to be heard, nevermind that it may upset a few people. but i trust there will be a bunch (i hope!) that share my sentiments.

i didn't get to read the article that was published in The New Paper on 21 April, so i don't know how much of my answers the reporter quoted. but here are the questions that were asked, and my answers that followed, that i would like to share with all of you.

Q: I heard that Kate Spade no longer allows online concierges such as comgateway, vpost and borderlinx to ship their items out of the USA. Could I find out more about this from you and get your personal response on how it has affected you?

A: to be honest, i'm not too bummed out by it. yes, these concierge services did allow us to enjoy cheaper prices compared to local store prices, but the wait was unjustifiable. i only engaged in their services because it was made available, and paying lesser than i would in store was a bonus. but the wait always killed me!

now that it's no longer available, i'd say i'd be more motivated to purchase in stores, and if paying extra means i get my purchases immediately, and am also personally served by the store associates, then why not?

i think we should all understand why kate spade is doing this. kate spade needs to ensure their overseas stores have business coming their way! if we are truly "fans" of the label, then we should be more supportive of this effort of theirs. in other words, we should all just stop being cheapskates and grumble about how we can no longer enjoy lower prices now that these concierge services are no longer available.

if we still want to pay the low USD prices, then be more resourceful. there are still other US merchants we can purchase from (like Zappos, Nordstrom, endless - if you are able to print these names in your paper), so i think we need to know our facts, do our homework, before we whine.

Q: How long have you been using the online concierges?

A: i've only used it 5 times so far, and my first time using them was in September last year.

Q: How many kate spade items do you have at home? Do you order other items from other brands as well?

A: i have more than 25 bags and clutches, and more than 10 kate spade accessories and small goods. i also have a kate spade barbie doll!

Q: How long did you have to wait when you used the concierge services to order kate spade items?

A: initially, i have to wait more than two weeks for my online purchases to arrive. so i then decided to opt for next day shipping on katespade.com (which cost USD27) for my subsequent purchases. the items I ordered from then on arrive in about a week.

Q: So will you be going to the local boutiques to buy kate spade items now? The extra cost doesn't bother you?

A: well, as I mentioned before, we need to be more resourceful. we can always try other US merchants that stock kate spade products. if i can find the item i want on these websites, then of course i'll get it from them. but if i can't, then yes, i will definitely get them from the local boutiques. the extra cost is the price i am willing to pay to get my purchases immediately, and being served personally. plus, i get to request for a gift box, which is not an available option on the website.

in fact, my younger sister wanted to purchase a kate spade bag recently, and i encouraged her to buy it from the store at Ngee Ann City. i have the kate spade VIP card that entitles me to 10% off my purchases, so why not, right?

Q: How much do you usually spend on kate spade items each month? Do you save up money to buy the KS items?

i do not hold a credit card, so i pay for all my purchases in cash. i don't usually "save up" to buy my kate spade bags. when i see one i like, i will normally purchase it immediately! but with kate spade, you know the bags will always go on sale pretty soon as the seasons change, so you have to be "smart" and wait for when it does. so times when i can afford to wait, i will. otherwise, if i think the original price is reasonable enough, i'll just get it immediately.

can I just say i purchase an average of five bags a month? i don't want to reveal the actual amount I spend a month, in case my husband reads this and gets a heart attack, because i've always told a white lie or two when he asks me how much a particular bag costs!

so these were the questions posed to me. the main point i wanted to put across, is that people should just stop whining and grumbling about it. seriously, so what?? there are still other sites we can shop from. we just need to be more resourceful! and i can't stand it when people get angry at kate spade and threaten that they are going to "lose business" from overseas customers because they can no longer purchase online. are you listening to yourself? they already are! they are not getting business from their stores in other countries because people are such cheapskates and perpetual bargain hunters (me included, sometimes, lol!), THAT's why they are employing this policy!

so if we are all truly fans of kate spade, can we just support them in their effort? just purchase from the local stores, lah. if you don't want to fork out that kind of money, then you have two options. be resourceful and hunt for merchants that carry kate spade products at the USD price you insist on paying - like Zappos, endless, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, etc - or switch to another label worthy of your money that, one, is affordable by your standards, and, two, allows online shopping and international shipping. it's as simple as that.

i know i will rub some people off the wrong way or even offend with my comments. hell, i may even lose "fans" on the facebook page, lol! my comments are not, however, in reference to what was said by the interviewees in the TNP article, because as i've mentioned, i've not had a chance to read it. god knows what i said in that article! reporters have a way of twisting what you said to fit the angle of their piece. but anyway, my comments above are in response to what i've observed on the ksny facebook page and some remarks left on my own facebook page by disgruntled singaporean fans.

my husband and i recently both got the iPhone 4 each to replace our existing phones, and today after my morning class i popped by kate spade ngee ann city to get the hardshell case for mine! i couldn't decide between the yellow multistripe and the multipaisley...but in the end i went with the latter because i've always been smitten with the prints. the green rotary one is my favorite, most definitely, but i'll just use the multipaisley till i find it!

this is of course, already old news, but i still just wanted to do a post about it. many of you probably already know by now of kate spade's collaboration with adeline adeline to create a limited edition custom kate spade new york green abici bicycle! in fact, this bicycle was also used in the Spring 2011 campaign, featuring Bryce Dallas Howard.

say hello to my newly acquired lemon souffle wellesley quinn!

i was undecided between the citronella, mustard and lemon souffle. i was, however, leaning towards the mustard, but lemon souffle still seemed interesting. so i asked my friend Sandee, and she said hers was the lemon souffle...just the right shade between the mustard and the citronella. not to pale and not to bright.

so the lemon souffle it was, and i love it!
i like bags with an open top, i can't stand zippers - which is why i don't own any stevies, and i only have a selected few that has the zipper top. i have always loved the quinn - its such a classic! - and have been wanting to get one for the longest time! i'm so pleased i finally have one!

but this will not be my only quinn! as we all know, kate spade will be celebrating green next month, and though i have the fitting green esti bow, it wouldn't hurt to have a green quinn, too, would it? heh!

the journal newspaper clutch i purchased arrived on tuesday! it's really, really adorable! and tyvek is such an interesting material. honestly though, i won't be able to fit much in it, especially not big and bulky items, as i will need to retain the flat shape of the clutch. but i still love it!

my son is turning three on April 13, and we'll be having his birthday party a few days early...this sunday! so last weekend was the final weekend we can get major shopping for party stuff done, with the remaining five weekdays left for us to concentrate on preparing for the big day, thus this means very minimal shopping opportunities.

i was dressed for a lot of walking in the unbearable singapore heat!

i love my top! so much so that i have it in two other colors, turquoise and black! i got them all from robinsons. my navy blue berms were from mango, and my flats, as mentioned previously, were from ralph lauren.

we did get a bulk of the shopping done, and these remaining few days i'm sure i'll be swarmed with party preparations! perhaps i'll post some photos here and also a link to the party photos, too! i'm one excited mommy...my mini man is turning three!

here's a yellow dress i really love, but i haven't had the chance to wear it because it's just too casual for work. so this morning when the husband and i decided to bring the little munchkin to one of the fire stations here for a station visit (there are "open houses" every saturday mornings from 9am to 11am!) it was the perfect opportunity - a casual family day out in the morning sun! and i thought my wellie magee complimented the dress awesomely!

its a cotton halter dress with very pretty floral embroidery at the hem, and i was especially excited to wear it today because i have recently purchased the most perfect sandals to go with!

these were from ralph lauren, and i'm so happy i found them! i think shoes always make an outfit, and now i don't have to rely only on my mustard yellow pumps, yellow strappy wedges or even my gold aldo sandals to finish off my yellow outfits! these will work so fabulously on lazy days when i'm not in the mood for heels!

i have several yellow get-ups on standby at the moment, but i'm awaiting the arrival of the yellow bag i've just ordered, three days ago (not telling you guys what yet! lol!) because i think the outfits will look better with it. i hope it arrives in time before kate spade moves on to the next color! yesterday i had actually put together a yellow outfit complete with my new mustard yellow URS Inc pumps, and had survived the get-up with my marigold cornelia street tamara, but alas! i didn't have the camera with me! bummer!

anyway...so until my newly acquired yellow purse arrives, i will pause the yellow and content myself with dressing in any color i please! today i had the Clyde with me (again receiving many wonderful reactions from everyone!) to compliment my somewhat nautical outfit:

at the risk of sounding self-absorbed, i actually loved what i had on: my white martina pink capris, navy blue mango camisole, and striped cotton on cardi. the Clyde worked with the outfit thanks to my red mphosis skinny belt and red monsoon mary janes. i would have put on my Nine West eastbound heels, if not for the fact i had lots of shopping and walking around to do today...can't afford aching feet!

and i can't wait for my yellow bag to arrive...cos this blog is seriously lacking the "yellow pages" posts!

little sister's first kate spade!

my little sister joined the kate spade club today!
she has been wanting to get one for the longest time, but hasn't acted on it, and the one bag she really wanted was the Clyde! but i've got it! *evil chuckle*

but well, i must say we can call it even-stevens now. just the day before i was at the ngee ann city store, and i fell in love immediately with the paley paisley medium sydney. i told myself i MUST get this bag once we are over with my son's third birthday party (all moolah at the moment are going THAT-a-way!). and then my little sister called me today just as i ended work and said she wants to go shopping at kate spade!

she was torn between the city spade medium sydney (in cream/navy) and the paley paisley medium sydney. and she was also considering the houndstooth nylon stevie and the dizzy dot sophie. after many moments of pondering, she finally decided on the paisley, and good on her, too, because it was the only piece left!

i have to say i steered her towards the paisley! it's just too pretty and cheery! there're so many outfit colors to go with it! and it's so eye-catching, too! it'll "pop" against any outfit you have on!

i'm so proud of her, and so touched she shared her first kate-spade-buy-experience with me! here's her beaming with her purchase!

i'm not a clutch person - i've said that many times before. i'm madly in love with the book of the month clutches, but have never been convinced to get one (not even just cause, what with that price tag!) because it's not practical for me. i can't fit all my junk in such an itty bitty thang!

but when a reader contacted me, and inquired if i would be keen to get the journal newspaper clutch off her because she had received it as a birthday present and have no use for it, i couldn't resist! AUD$90 is a bargain, if you ask me!

how could i let it pass, right?!
nevermind the fact i will prolly frustrate the hell out of myself trying to fit all my essentials in that tiny thing even on special dates. (yes, i have tons of junk i lug even on special occasions!) nevermind the fact tyvek is alien to me, and i have no idea how it feels. how could anyone let this gorgeous piece pass at only 90 bucks?

so thank you to that awesome reader who contacted me - i would never have owned such a unique and novel piece otherwise! it's just been shipped and i can't wait for when it arrives!

my CILA sunglasses arrived today! very, very excited and somewhat pleased! i say somewhat, because there is a minor bummer, but i'll get to it later.

i requested for a gift box with it, and noted today that apart from the gift card that usually comes with, now kate spade also includes a gift tag that is attached to the ribbon. nice touch!

the shipment box it came in had the usual gold and white striped lining, so the gift box is just stuffed with white tracing paper.

but i was quite surprised when i lifted the tracing paper on the top and found that it was all shipped with my glasses OUT of the clamshell case!

it could have been damaged in transit! but well...it didn't, so i won't make a big fuss over it. i'm just surprised why it didn't occur to them to pack it IN the case for added protection. anyway, here's a closer look at my newly-acquired CILA sunglasses!

okay here's the little bummer i mentioned earlier. the clamshell case won't shut properly when the CILA is placed inside! no matter how i turn and arrange it, it just won't shut! so i don't know if the clamshell case is defective, or if there is a "special" way of placing the sunglasses that needs a rocket science to figure out. i'm gonna check with the local store tomorrow. if the case is truly defective, i hope they can provide me with a replacement, although i didn't purchase it at the store!

this dress is yet another lucky find! and it was an awesome, awesome buy! only SGD32! i love love love the cut (so grecian!), the pleated skirt and i can't say enough about the beading on the bodice! love it!

here is i outside the singapore indoor stadium, before the Disney on Ice "Worlds of Fantasy" show, courtesy of friend who had bought tickets for us (with awesome seats, too, i must add!) as a birthday gift for my mini man who will turn three in about three weeks' time.

the dress is from the blogshop, my earrings are from diva and my gold sandals are from aldo.

now. let me explain the bag. i hadn't intended to bring out the Clyde. i had wanted to bring out the tortola kei instead - the gold would have played up the yellow very nicely and matched my gold sandals perfectly! but. the Clyde had not been emptied after yesterday's outing with the girlfriends, and the morning before we headed out to the indoor stadium i had to run some last minute errands. so when i got back, i had just enough time to shower once again (weather is too damn hot!), put on some make-up and serum-med my hair. thank goodness the husband helped got the little one ready while i was on the way home from my errands.

so we had to zip out to make sure we'll have enough time to fill our tummies before the show, thus i didn't have time to transfer and switch bags! i just grabbed the Clyde and hurried out! i kinda regret it now, because the tortola kei would have definitely been a better and more perfect match.

oh well!

have you been on the new kate spade website on your iPhone? well, i did today - out of boredom in my morning class, heh - and discovered that the new website acts as an app too! i know many of kate spade's fans have been asking if the app they once had will ever be made available again. well, now you have it!

here's what you see when you go to katespade.com on your iPhone:

the sections are listed in an easy-to-navigate manner, making it such a breeze to browse through the new website compared to the old one!

they even have the "color of the month" section now! and when you tap on it, you will be presented with all the kate spade items in the color that is being celebrated that month. how easy is that?!

the same happens when you click on the "handbags" section:

it's soooooooo much easier now browsing the site on your iPhone. before, i have to move the page left and right, zoom in and zoom out, and it was just such a hassle! but this new site is so breezy, and dear me, it'll make finger-shopping so much more convenient, your shopping cart will be filled to the brim before you know it!

also. did you know that the new website offers city-specific blog posts that provide tips on what to do after you've bought out your local Kate Spade boutique? well, i wouldn't know first hand because us non-US fans can no longer purchase direct from the website, but according to the washington post, kate spade's Georgetown recommendations - where kate spade has a freestanding boutique - include a stop at the House of Sweden, brunch at the Billy Martin's Tavern ("where JFK proposed to Jackie"), and a summertime picnic at Jazz in the Sculpture Garden.

i met with a couple of my girlfriends yesterday for a late lunch at this cosy little joint off greenwood avenue, and i finally brought the Clyde out for the first time! there are no words to describe how awesome it felt to tote this piece of arm candy!

one of my girlfriends had her red knightsbridge quinn with her, and the two made quite a fiery pair!

and here's what i wore yesterday!

and i kinda love the outfit i put together yesterday, too! i love the peterpan collar on my cotton top. so '50s! and you won't believe how cheap it was from john little. the navy blue bermuda shorts are from esprit, and the skinny belt is from mphosis. my shoes are my next favorite item from this gettup, after my Clyde! they're actually in kids' size from monsoon and i got them for 70% off, too!

anyway, the Clyde is good hand-carried or toted elbow-hold, but it's not quite possible to tote it over the shoulder. the drop length is a tad small, so it's very snug, and i don't like how it rubs under the pits! i haven't tried it with the crossbody strap yet (i removed the strap yesterday), but will definitely try it soon - especially when i'm out with the little one and certainly need both arms free to deal with a wriggly child!

i stumbled upon this yellow dress at robinsons raffles city by chance and i was so relieved i found something yellow!

i couldn't decide at first which bag fits best. the shady side magazine tote would have been so perfect! anyway, i didn't wait to overdo the yellow with my sandy point catherine. my striped wellie magee would have added a fun and quirky touch, but i wanted to use my Aldo pumps, so i settled on my villa mae. i had also considered the tortola kei, but i know i'll get frustrated by midday with not having my hands free!

i've been so busy with wrapping up term one of the school year and also planning for and preparing my son's third bithday in april that i haven't had time to have a good look at the new katespade website. i know some of you aren't really digging the change, so i'm gonna navigate my way around and share my two cents soon!

so i'm sure everyone of you have seen the new kate spade website by now. my friend Sandee actually discovered the site days before it was launched, and she had shared it with me immediately. so we both have actually known it a while back. but kate spade was quite uptight about us excitable kate spade fans sharing news on kate spade before they do (which is understandable) so we couldn't breathe a word about it. but, well, if you ask me, in general, companies shouldn't make something (like their test site, for example) available on the world wide web then, if you don't want someone to stumble on it, no? you can't possibly fault someone for finding it, and then share it, especially if there was no prior notice or request to NOT to.

but anyway, it doesn't matter now.
so you've seen the new site. what do you think of it?

on other note, you have no idea how difficult it is to immerse in yellow here! i've been shopping everywhere looking for nice yellow dresses, tops, skirts or pants...but everywhere seems to be in love with reds and purples and browns! this month is gonna garner a pathetic collection of what-i-wore-today posts, i'm sure! it's nearly the middle of the month, and i've only had two!

today i brought my sandy point catherine out after a very, very long time. i think this must be only the fourth time i have used it since i got it last year. the material is just too fragile for frequent wear! it's a very pretty bag, so i want to preserve it and keep it in a good condition as best as i can, so i try not to use it as often - especially NOT with jeans!

in hindsight, i'm actually not digging this outfit. i didn't have shoes that would go well with this outfit, and the yellow wedges i had on looked weird with it! not one of my proudest get-ups!

anyways, the striped jacket is from cotton on, and the yellow cami is from miss selfridge. i wish i had longer cigarette pants, instead of the capris i had on (they're from robinsons). i think the length of the pants makes a big difference. a little longer in the pants - slightly lower in the shin - would have been better, i think.

well, i'll try better next time!

today marks the day i leave all my pink behind and embrace a new hue...yellow! and yes, if you've noticed, i'm calling all my something-yellow-i-wore-today posts all of this month...the yellow pages! corny, i know! lol!

though i'm sad to say i had a very rushed start to the day which caused me to forget all accessory plans i had set out the night before! booo! i forgot my earrings, my necklace, my rings...grrrr!

i'm afraid today's outfit wasn't anything fancy. that's the thing about mondays. too blues-y to make an effort to dress up. i hope it'll get better as we go into the week!

my yellow and white-polka-dots top is from robinsons, while my shorts are from tangs. i didn't want to go ott with yellow and tote a yellow bag, so i figured my tangerine camille would be a good compliment to the yellow and white.

thing is, i realised i don't own that many yellow get-ups. but well, we all know what the perfect answer is to that! more shopping!

kate spade is weird. it's SIX days into march and they still haven't announced what the color-of-the-month is! all they've done so far is release little pieces here and there on their website to give us clues that the color for march will be yellow - like the yellow date night ring, for example.

in fact, going quite on the opposite direction, on their website they've just launched this "pop of pink" key pieces blitz! what is up with kate spade?

on their facebook page, they said:

well, someone from their marketing or promotions or whatever department it is that is handling this "live colorfully" campaign should really get their act together. it's quite a joke to start this ingenious campaign (i gotta say, it's really a good idea) but to not be able to keep up with it and make new-color-announcements promptly at the start of, or just before the start of, a new month looks rather bad on the label, doesn't it?

my friend Sandee puts it best:

well! like her, i'm getting out of this pink world kate spade is obviously still living in! bring on the yellow, and wait till i tell you what i'm calling the something-yellow-i-wore-today posts! i haven't been out much these past six days of march, but tomorrow onwards, i'm jumping onto the yellow wagon!

last sunday (seven days ago) i ordered the Cila sunnies in gold dot tortoise-shell that i fallen so badly for, only to discover on thursday - after vPost's order processing time - that it was out of stock. i was quite dismayed. i thought i'd settle then for the other color - the turquoise and red striped one - and just get it here from the singapore boutique...nevermind that it''ll be about SGD$170 more.

so i popped by yesterday, but to my further dismay, it was also out of stock in stores! oh my, it was so heartbreaking. my last option now would be to scour independent merchants to try my luck and see if they might have the Cila.

and just as i was getting myself ready in front of the laptop last night for an intensive online search, i thought, before i get started it would do no harm to just check the kate spade website one last time in case i get lucky!

the Cila was back online! i immediately emailed vPost and requested that they reorder the item. and this morning i received a confirmation email from them telling me they've just placed the order.

finally! i can gush over my Clyde!
it actually arrived on Thursday, but when i got home i was so knackered all i could do was slice the box open to peek if it was indeed the Clyde inside. ever since that experience months back when kate spade shipped me the wrong item, i've always been filled with a wee bit of anxiety whenever i'm expecting a parcel!

so yeah, i was so tired i could only manage to peek into the box, and the rest of the week has left me so exhausted all i could do each day after i get home from work was to collapse on my bed. it was only yesterday that i finally had the time to unwrap the box!

now, the Clyde must be a pretty important and priceless bag by kate spade's standards, because it came wrapped in plastic! lol! the only other bag i've ordered from kate spade that came wrapped in plastic was the sandy point catherine.

the whole time i was snapping pictures of it, i cannot get over how absolutely delish it is! the leather is oh-so-plush and soft, just like my Camille. it's extraordinary!

if you ask me now, which is my favorite kate spade bag of all the ones that i have, i'll have to say it's this one! the Clyde is something else! oh, the pictures don't do it justice. you have to feel it in your hands and see it up close to understand what a beauty and work of art it is! and this is going to be such a kate spade classic, just like the quinns. i'm so, so thrilled it's finally in my possession!

as soon as i get the chance to bring it out, i'll take pictures of the many ways you can tote the Clyde, just like i did with the Camille. i have a feeling it'll be soon, lol! but for now, it will sit safely and securely in its box!

lucky find: jane street mirror

this one here is one of my luckiest find ever, and is one of the three purchases i made recently. it was magical and somewhat destined if you ask me, how i stumbled upon it, considering this item is from more than two years back. i just feel so blessed!

it's the "lips" slide out mirror from the jane street collection! i love the jane street collection because of its pink and gold color combo. i have the passport holder from this collection. anyway, it arrived three days ago, complete with a nice cream bow around the box - so thoughtful!

and comes accompanied with the care card and tag...

i love it love it love it, and it is truly a nice-to-have in my kate spade purse. now i can check myself out in true kate spade style! haha!

today after my morning class, i popped by the ngee ann city store because i intended to get a pair of sunglasses. it ~~didn't help~~ helped that the sun was at its fiercest, and the glare was just getting too unbearable for my eyes. plus, i didn't have any of my three sunnies with me! so i had good reason to need to get a (fourth) pair. and from where else but kate spade!

there were less than twenty styles of kate spade eyewear available in the store, and only one caught my fancy: the cila in black with turquoise and red on the sides.

i was ready to grab it, because i checked with the SA, and she said it only comes in this colour. i didn't mind it, i thought the turquoise and red stripes were quite outstanding...but something told me to just check online - both to compare prices and also just to see if it might come in another color. i'm all too familiar with the fact that the website sometimes offer more variety in terms of colors, be it handbags, accessories, etc.

so just in case, i immediately went to katespade.com and true enough, the cila comes in a brown tortoise-shell frame with gold dots on the sides!

pretty, too, right? i liked them both, and i couldn't decide between the two! but after consulting my girl D, i decided to go with the latter. and just as well, too, because it's only USD148 online, which equates to only about SGD188 - a lot less than the store price of SGD370, even with shipping!

so i'll be ordering the cila in brown, and waiting excitedly for it to arrive! and do you know what, i've been so busy and so tired the past three days, i haven't even had time to LOOK at my Clyde! can you believe it, it's still in the box! i promise by tomorrow i will take pictures of it and post it asap!

and i can't wait to carry it!

this was actually what i wore last tuesday.

i love the frilly dusty pink top! it's from martina pink at CK Tangs. absolutely adore it! it was a simple get-up because i wasn't going anywhere after work BUT my night class. so i just threw on my Levis', crocs slingbacks, and you'll notice i have two bags with me. i brought out the gold coast margot, but i also have my classic noel griffen - which has now become my "school bag" for me to store my files and textbook.

two pretty shades of pink in many many flirty layers! i got it from the ladies department at ngee ann city's takashimaya shopping center.

i've got one more "pretty in pink" post, backdated from a few days ago which i totally forgot about, because it was taken on the husband's videocam. i'll post it soon!

and talking about the husband, i've got to give him tons of credit for being my very patient and obliging camera person for all my "pretty in pink" posts. he's so supportive of my all-things-kate-spade, i feel so blessed! he still gets the occasional anxiety attacks whenever i step into the kate spade boutique, or when a parcel arrives (heh) but despite all that he's still a darling!

yesterday i was really excited to bring out my frosted felt magazine tote for the first time! it was doubly exciting because it's not predominantly in the color we're celebrating this month, but still it made such a perfect match to the pink outfit i had put on. i received so many compliments about the bag yesterday!

my outfit yesterday was unlike the usual dusty pinks i have been sporting for a huge part of this month. it's a simple bright pink three-quarter sleeved cotton top from dot-perks (read: dorothy perkins), that i had paired with my favorite light gray shorts. the bright pink skinny belt i had purchased from mphosis was the perfect finish, in my opinion! and to compliment the red of my tote, i stepped out in my red monsoon mary janes. i love these shoes to death! they're the cutest!

and oh, talking about red, my All Typed Up Clyde has just arrived at the local post office, and i am expecting it to arrive at my doorstep tomorrow! to say i am excited would be the understatement of the century!

i can't wait to hold it! once i have the Clyde, that would be THREE obsessions (the 34th street treesh, the clyde and the frosted felt mag tote) made a reality in just two months into 2011! heh!

pretty in pink VII

yesterday was the birthday of one of my closest friends, and though it was a small and cosy party at home among a small group of really good friends, i couldn't resist the opportunity to dress up! well, it's not really "dress up" kinda dress up, if you know what i mean, but considering i could easily have just thrown on a tank top and shorts cos his place was just a few busstops away, what i had on was "dressed up" by everyone else's standards! heh!

i have been incredibly excited about this dress since i bought it about two weeks ago. it's a tube dress, the top is white and is of a tank top material, while the skirt is of the softest cotton in the brightest of pink. and, it was half off at mphosis - i got it for under thirty dollars!

i felt too self-conscious with my bare shoulders, so i paired it with my red cardi from mango. i guess you can say the inspiration for the red and pink combo came from my newly acquired frosted felt magazine tote! and the best thing about this outfit is, i realised how perfectly the wellie magee complimented the whole look! yet another bag i've discovered that could work with my "pretty-in-pink" outfits!

i did away with accessories, save for the flower in the hair and my owl ring, because i didn't want to overdo things. like i said, it was just a house party a few minutes away!

at new york fashion week for the fall 2011 collection, kate spade introduced all things retro, girly, and colorful - handbags and dresses with graphic prints; oversized costume jewelry, pumps with feather pompoms and crystal-encrusted heels, and wool hats in rainbows of color.

the trend is '60s ladylike, graphic prints with colors like candy pink, yellow, sky blue and taupe...and hats, hats and more hats!!! (or cloches, if you wish) perfect for retro-lovin' girls!

pink and red!

last month i was asking all of you if i should get the frosted felt magazine tote in modernred, or should i wait for the pink-and-grey one from the Spring 2011 collection.

a lot of you said i should wait for the pink-and-grey one, but after a lot of thought, i decided i'll get the modernred on anyway, and get the pink-and-grey one when it becomes available, because:

1. they are both of different materials, so it's technically not having the same bag, and
2. it's not like i'll get the pink-and-grey one the minute it becomes available. i'll surely wait for it to go on sale, and so it will take months before it becomes mine, thus until that day comes, the modernred one will come in handy!

and soooooooo....i ordered the frosted felt magazine tote earlier this month. and it arrived today!

i love this bag for four fabulous reasons:
1. of course, the first is the combination of pink and red!
2. that it has no snap or zip top-closure - i like this in my bags - so it's easy for me to reach in for my stuff
3. the handy easy-to-reach pockets on the outside front and back, that allow me to organize and store my stuff better
4. the size! it's perfect!

i can't stop gushing over the smart color combination, and i can't wait to see how well it will work with red outfits, and of course pink, too!

now, to wait for the Clyde to arrive! =)

today is yet another simple get-up...a black bubble-hem dress - with some floral detailing on both shoulders - paired with my shocking pink tights, and my favorite pink flats! i also have my owl necklace on, and my 34th street treesh is back in use! =)

while rummaging through my wardrobe, i stumbled upon an old scarf i had bought from miss selfridge many, many years ago...and thought: hey! i could get creative with this! i can't remember how else i've used it, except for one time i had it wrapped around my head and i had big hoop earrings on, so i looked like a gypsy woman! i thought i looked so cool back then, lol!

i love the black dress i have on. i got it from Tangs for $129 (i love shopping for clothes at Tangs and Robinsons!), and it looks like a really simple LBD, but at the bottom just where the hips are, it has layers of chiffon that wraps around like a skirt and gives a graceful drapery effect. i should have taken a close-up!

you'll notice my tights are a lighter shade of pink, not the shocking pink i usually have on, and it's almost white. i'm not really digging it now, but for variety's sake, i thought i'd give it a try. only consolation is, it matches the scarf pretty well. but i think i'll stick to the shocking pink from now on!
