hello you....

look who i brought home today!

the wellie magee tote!!! yey!!!!

this is whyyyyy i love the wellie magee tote, once again.
the wide green base with the KS trademark logo all over!

and i think it fits my pink wedge wellies PERFECTLY!!

omg i cannot wait for a rainy day now!

my kate spade babies

i don't know why but yesterday i was in this need-to-badly-organise-everything-neatly kinda mood. so i bought a HUGE box and decided to "pack" all my kate spade babies neatly in them, so that they'll now be easier to reach. before this, they're stored up on my cupboard and i usually need a step-stool to reach them and bring them down.

now they all sit at the foot of the bed in the bedroom and are easily accessible. all of my babies, except my classic noel sky gabel that i use everyday, sit pretty, neatly and safely inside. if there ever was a fire (touch wood!), i just need to grab - ok LUG - my BIG BOX OF BABIES and i won't have to worry! lol!

now i just can't wait for the cornelia street blair, the sandy point catherine and the wellie magee tote to join them soon! =)

a long story to my happy ending...

ok, this is gonna be leeee-ttle off the topic of kate spade (though it will lead to a kate spade related issue at the ending!), but i just need to share this story!

a few days ago, i posted on my FB profile a picture of a pair of Eastbound Heels by Nine West that are simply to-die-for! i receive "Shop it to Me" email alerts now and then from various brands like Nine West, Nordstorm, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, etc, and when i saw these heels in a recent mailer, i couldn't resist wanting to get them! they're so nautical! and you gotta love the red on the heel!

and hey! doesn't it remind you of the lorna t-strap wedge by Kate Spade?? =)

and after looking everywhere for them both online and in local stores (i have tiny feet so its almost always a challenge to find my size), i finally found my size at the Wisma Atria outlet here in Singapore. ninewest.com no longer had the navy stripes one, and only had the plain black. pffft.

ok first, the minah (read: local malay girl) that attended to me must really have been having a bad day, cos from the moment i walked in, she gave me an amazingly sour face, with an attitude to boot - complete with rolling of the eyes when i asked if she had a bigger size, just for me to try. i mean, the pair on display fit me well, but i just wanted to see how much bigger the next size is. the second time i summoned her for assistance, she came begrudgingly, but not before rolling her eyes once again and muttering something to her minah counterpart.

what the?? so i asked her: "I'm sorry, but are you having a bad day, or did i do something to offend you? cos you look REALLY unhappy to serve me." to which she fumbled (cos the whole exchange was witnessed by a pair of female shoppers), muttered something inaudible (she could have sworn at me for all i know), and disappeared into the store room on the pretext of checking with other outlets. she didn't reappear, not even when i left the store. apa dah. are you upset that you have to serve a fellow minah, or something? lol!

but this is not what the story is about!
to my dismay, the pair in my size in my hands was the LAST pair left, and what's worse, there was a black stain on the left side of the right side. makes sense? ok, the right side of the pair has a stain on the left side. heh.

so i asked the lone Chinese SA that remained (bad-day minah and counterpart-minah somehow miraculously had something more important to do in the backroom) if they would have my size in another outlet (but of course i already knew the answer). nada.

and so i showed her the stain, and sought for her to agree, i'm sure i couldn't be expected to buy a stained pair. more importantly, THEY shouldn't be putting a stained pair on sale an expect a customer to give in and get it in the first place! it's just not fair! they should have removed the stained pair in the first place and not allow it to be on sale!

so yes, i made a teenie tiny fuss, heh. i wasn't unpleasant or arrogant. i just told her, i've been looking EVERYWHERE for these shoes, and now that i finally found it, it is quite heartbreaking that it's not perfect. and it's like i'm being twisted on the arm: get it, stains and all, or don't get it, cos someone else will. you know?

so a few calls here and there to the manager who was not in store (cos i requested to speak with the manager), a fair bit of utterly sad and dismayed expressions and lots more compassion-inducing blabber...i got them for an additional 10% off on top of the prevailing 30% discount! so i enjoyed 40% off the pair in total! lol!

well, i may have been a bit of a bully, haha...but i did feel empowered as a shopper! =)
and now i finally have the pair of Eastbound heels i've been looking everywhere for!

and the stain? nothing that a few gentle scrubs with the wet wipes won't remove! lol! i managed to get it off and now my heels are looking perfect!! here's how they looked before:

and here's how it is post-wet wipes! *beams*

and you know what this means, right???
this means i will have a new "excuse" to shop for a bag to match these heels! woot! woot!

barrow street annabel baby bag

so yesterday while sitting in the backseat of a fren's car (not that i was bored or anything), i found myself landing on katespade.com on my iPhone. don't know why, but something tells me i should just browse through her new arrivals.

and i don't usually do this (cos i'm contented with my classic noel sky gabel), but i clicked on "baby bags", and boy was it a big regret! have y'all seen the barrow street annabel baby bag?! it's gorgeous, especially the one in turquoise!

okay now i'm itching for this, and think it's about time i replace my sky gabel. but i've already done enough damage this month - THREE bags! maybe i should wait for when this goes on sale?

rain, rain, DON'T go away!

a few months ago (last year, in fact), when it was still raining very heavily here in singapore (the weather is scorching now!), i invested in a pair of pink wedge wellies i stumbled upon on a UK website. i haven't worn it yet because, one, the weather took a drastic turn since it arrived, and two, i didn't have a nice pink rainy day bag to match. my bags must always match my shoes - that's the thing about me.

i did like the randi boots kate spade has, with the pretty black bow around the top, but at USD$125 a pop (on sale at USD$99 at some sites), it was much too costly an investment for me, especially in a country where rain is terribly hard to come by, and it's burning hot a huge part of the year.

the boots i found were a good-enough alternative, i think! they were ONLY SGD$32! i may just pretty them up with bows of my own!

i did, however, go on a consecutive manic online search to look for a matching umbrella! i had wanted to get the one by kate spade - it would only make perfect sense! - but i felt like there wasn't enough pink in it to match the wellies. if the handle had been pink, at least, i would have certainly gotten it, never mind the stripes! i have this thing about matching items. heh!

instead, i found from an australian site, this gorgeous pink ruffle deep dome-shaped umbrella that i thought was a perfect match! i love that it's dome-shaped, so it gave great coverage during the rain, especially if i'm carrying my toddler (and a kate spade bag, lol!).

still, my rainy day garb didn't feel quite complete without the perfect bag to go with. plus, most of my bags are either fabric, leather or wicker - too precious to venture bravely into the rain with, umbrella-in-hand or not.

so with a very valid purpose, i embarked on a bargain hunt for the perfect kate spade rainy day bag. it was not a difficult mission, because you can't really say you're spoiled for choice when it comes to rainy day bags from kate spade. of course, if i had gotten the umbrella from kate spade, the solution would come easy in the wellie magee tote:

i narrowed it down eventually to either the big apple bon shopper or the blakely maraschino, both in pink of course:

i settled, in the end, on the blakely maraschino, because i like how a lot less understated it is, with the trademark ks logo embossed (no doubt, all over, but still not too conspicuous), and not so "out-there" like the words kate spade plastered on the big apple bon shopper.

but but but! after much discussion with my girl, D, i fell back on the wellie magee instead! lol! yes, yes, i'm indecisive, but allow me to justify! firstly, the bon shopper and blakely are past season. AND secondly, i like how cute the base of the wellie magee is! just look!

yeah...so it's not all pink, but i think it'll lend more colors to rainy days! plus i like how wide the base is compared to the bon shopper or the blakely. and should i ever want to get more wellies in other colors, the wellie magee will do well to match!

so! now, my rainy day outfit is oh-so-complete! i've got my pink wellies, my pretty pink umbrella, and my rainy day bag (which is still on the way!). i've been praying hard for rain every day since. haha! so if you see a lady in pink jumping in puddles and walking proudly in the pouring rain somewhere in the tiny island of singapore, that may well just be yours truly! =)

--------

ps. actually. now that i've gotten the wellie magee, i'm felling a little "itchy" and am wondering if i should get the umbrella too. heh! well, i could do with a matching umbrella that could be folded and kept in the bag, instead of just one that needs to be carried around! don't you agree?? i mean, if it rains, yes, i'll bring the pink ruffle one out. but what if doesn't yet when i'm venturing out, and just need to bring an umbrella just in case it rains later? the ks one would be great cos i can keep it in the bag for days when it would "hopefully" rain, right? argh!! decisions, decisions!

"book of the month" clutches!

look at these ingenious clutches kate spade has just introduced! these clutches feature completely original “cover art” based on classic novels, including: The Great Gatsby, Emma, The Importance of Being Earnest, Great Expectations, and A Tale of Two Cities.

retailing for USD325, one new “book” will debut every month as a kind of fashion “book-of-the-month” club. each book clutch is made with laminated silk twill with metallic cowhide trim, with an interior zip pocket and 6 credit card slots, and measures 9in wide and approx 6in high.

what inspired these "book of the month" clutches? according to creative director Deborah Lloyd said: “We wanted to pretend we had our own publishing house.” she hopes that women will not only wear the bags, but display them around their homes as if they were actual books.

well, these "book of the month" clucthes aren't technically available yet, though you may still pre-order them online, but they'll only be shipped to you in late august!

my personal favorite is "The Great Gatsby" one! i love the pearls on the cover!
what's YOURS?
